Brayer

I gave my brayer an outing the other day, it’s a tool I don’t use that much, but I’m a fan of Michelle Zindorf and I’ve decided after watching some of her tutorials to give it go, you can see her brillant cards here http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com

here is a card inspired by Michelle

wild about you

I’ve used the wild about you and inspired by nature sets, clear embossed the grass and crocidle then brayered over the top of them, the embossing resists the ink, I brayered the always artichoke ink first, using a torn bit of paper to cover the area I didn’t want, then I loaded the brayer with so saffron, regal rose and a couple of blues, masking a punched circle, inked around the edges and ther is my first attempt.  Quite please with this but I’m nowhere near as good as Michelle. Hope you enjoy, I’ll be back in a few days with a couple more cards, can’t show you yet due to birthdays. Hoping our water is back on now, I have to go out soon, and we have had no water so no shower for me!

tree trimming #3

tree trimming 1

OHOH contrabrand, yes I pulled out my cuttlebug and using the swirly folder embossed some perfect plum card stock, baja ribbon, the new oval punch, with the new Birthday wish both from the mini, some designer paper, and then using the bauble again from tree trimming cut out enough to make a pale plum flower. Simple card less than ten minutes, and I did get the idea of the flower from one of my southern belles team mate, Nicole Derendorf, so pop over and have a look at the card she made, quite stunning (but you may have to scroll down a bit I think it was in last weeks, tuesday trio) thanks Nicole, and I hope you are all inspired to have a go at this one too. I’m going to have a special card for you tomorrow, it has taken me ages to make but I am quite proud of it!

Tree Trimmings

tree trimming

Another card using the tree trimmings stamp set,  a bit of glitter, some photo corners using the photo corner punch, add a gold brad, nice xmas card, I’ve gold embossed around some of the edges, and the card stock used is kiwi kiss and riding hood red, the swirl is out of the baroque motif set, and you can’t see the words because it seems there may be something wrong with my gold ink pad, it isn’t working very well, not sure what to do about that any suggestions will be welcome, it doesn’t need reinking, but it just doesn’t go onto cardstock very nicely, I even tried to heat it. It’s like the ink in stamp pad has seperated??? help! Anyway I can’t take all the credit for this design but I can for most, the baubles hanging off the motif came from someone else, but I’ve now seen it on so many blogs not sure who started it.  I’lll have another card tomorrow using this stamp set and this one isn’t a christmas card! see you then.

Kiss from a Rose

One of the challenges this month from the Elite Stampers was the colour challenge, Kiss from the Rose, the colours to use are Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose and So Saffron, nice combo, here is my take

tree trimming 2

I’ve used the scallop border punch, and scallop circle, and two other circle punches, the Thankyou from Lovely Labels (page 119) is stamped in Kiwi Kiss, and the other pattern on the white cardstock is the bauble from the Tree Trimmings set from the spring mini, you need a stampamajig to line these up (see I went a bit wonky at the end) but I wanted to show you that this set is not just for christmas, it can be used in a few ways.  I’m hoping to get back to my craft room today, but I have a sick son so who knows. thanks for dropping by.

emboss resist card 2

as promised here is the second card made from the leftover scraps

emboss resist scraps

not too bad for scraps. I’ve randomly stamped the swirl from priceless over kiwi kiss cardstock, then onto riding hood red, adhered the scraps, trying for a present sort of shape, tizzied it up with the scallop border using pink piroutte, and some pearls from the prettiest kit and another card done.  Don’t throw away your scraps because you can use them on cards like this. Hope you get some inspiration from this one.

emboss resist

I had to make an atc for emboss resist technique swap this month, although I can’t show the atc yet, I did have some of my pattern left over so made a few cards. The emboss resist technique is quite simple, emboss onto white cardstock and then ink over the embossing, wipe with a tissue and the embossing resists the ink,  as I had so many to make I covered an a4 sheet as below

emboss resist paper

I used Kiwi Kiss and riding hood red ink, some stamps from the baroque motif and priceless sets, then cut out portions, below is one of the cards I made,

emboss resist lace

other items are eyelet border, riding hood red cardstock, the scallop oval punch (this is hugely popular) and the oval all saying from the spring mini. I’ll show the other card tomorrow hope you like this one, it’s one of my favourites very feminine.

Very quick post

ltotally tools 2

the card above is the one that I intended to have as my make and take at the fair, I’ve used chocolate chip, close to coca and creamy carmel card stock, stamped the sayings (happy and day) from the occasional greetings set, inking only the words I wanted with a marker, (the stamp I used was actually the happy mothers day) and Father from the   happy fathers day stamp in the same set (page 112) and using a stampamajig to line up, then added 3 large eyelets, I also crimped the close to coca cardstock. The stamp set is totally tools. Hope you enjoy.I  know I have been mia for awhile, took quite a long time to recover from that horrid virus and I hope none of you catch that one.  thanks for continuing to pop in, btw this blog is now 1 year old! quite amazing, thanks for all your support.

edited:ps all those who snuck in before will see that this post is now completely different. After that very very early dinner, I was sustained enough to realise I’d been pushing the wrong button!!hahaha

quick update

Hi everyone,I’ve just come on to remind you all about the stamping and scrapbooking fair, on at the waville showgrounds this sunday the 16th august from 9.00 to 4.00.  Cost $6.00 (husbands and children free) lots of stalls etc.  It doesn’t look like I will get there though, I’ve been in bed all week with the flu and I’m off back there now, so on that note, please forgive me but there will also be no more posts for quite a few more days until I get my energy back.

another punch card

While I had my punches out yesterday I made a card for a baby boy, this one uses circle punches and I’ve quarted them, I’ve used the baja breeze designer paper, to make the pram, the wheels are the new cordoury buttons from the mini, and I’ve layered onto textured white and baja breeze, with some baja breeze ribbon.

TEDDY

Hello everyone, I’ve been missing in action again, we are back on dial up for a few days – sigh! – but I must admit the reason I’ve been gone is because of Jeffery Deaver.  He should not write such good books because I cannot put them down! I have been doing some cards though, getting ready for a busy month ahead, but I’ll put up with dial up today, because I really want to show you this card, I’ve been meaning to make it for awhile, since Mum and Dad gave me a new handbag and it came with this

punch teddy insp

it’s attached to the bag, and I keep looking at it thinking I could make that with my punches, so I have finally done it and this is what I’ve come up with

punch teddy

good match eh, I’ve used these punches, word window, 2″ circle (that one isn’t stampin up), large oval, 1 3/8 circle, 1′ circle, . The heart is chipboard from so tweet, designer paper in riding hood red, and chocolate chip. brad and white gel pen for the eyes. thanks for visiting and I’ll try to get the other cards up soon.
