Flight of the butterfly
the card I made below is for another southern belles challenge from 2 weeks ago, for backgrounds. I decided to have another go at the pebble effect where I put a drop of reinker (I used old olive, garden green, certainly celery, bashful blue, summer sun) onto a cotton ball with some alcohol antiseptic and bounced up and down on the gloss cardstock, then I’ve stamped some of the butterflies from the set flight of the butterfly (page 82) with stazon ink. Layered onto garden green and summer sun. Hope you enjoy it, oh the flower brad is from the spring mini, launching tomorrow.

lots to do, catch you all soon.

a kind word 3
I pulled out my kind word set intending to make some get well cards to help Mum out, she makes cards for her village and is running out of get well cards fast. Alas no sooner than I did this one I found out two of my friends would need some cheering up too, so here is the first card, and I hope to have more this week, but as I need to get them out I may not actually have the time to post again until the end of the week.

this hasn’t scanned too well, the pink goes all the way around, this is the first time I have used the scanner since the big move, and needs a bit of tweaking I think, anyway I need to get this in the post so it will have to do, the base is cameo coral, the paper is from the mini called a walk in the park (love it!) a kind heart has been glittered in parts, the 3 punched flowers have a rhinstone brad in each and I’ve used the eyelet border, the design is one doing the rounds at the moment but I first saw it on the magnolia down under challenge and I love it, very versatile. This card is also the one I’m using for my team’s weekly challenge of bling (although the challenge was 3 weeks ago I’m a bit behind) the background behind the girls has been added using a paint brush and is baja breeze ink. tkl

tassie layout
our trip to tassie 3 years ago isn’t even half way through being scrapped yet, I’m only up to day 3 but I have so many photo’s that I can’t leave out, still it is getting a lot quicker now as I have so many things on hand now and some of the new stamps and embellishments in the mini are really helping.

this is page two I’ve used Sahara Sand cardstock, and as I wanted to use multi photos very little embellishment, I really want my holiday snaps to stand out. I have stamped a retired stipple shell set cut out and 3d in sahara sand onto ivory cardstock, and I’ve used a spellbinder to layer one of the label punch and stamp in riding hood red for the destination, this was used as it fitted in so well with the new ribbon from the mini, which I’ve used below on page one, I’ve tied the ribbon around some pacific blue cardstock, as the stripes just remind me of the beach

i’ve used a new wheel down the side which is full of summery words, and i’ve also cutout some of those words to use throughout the layout to describe our day. hope you have enjoyed looking at this, and don’t forget to order your mini.

another christmas in july card
as promised here is the next one, I quite like this square design and this is probably the one I’ll use this year, today we have a riding hood red card, the retired dashing paper goes really well with this lovely new ribbon available from the spring mini on august 1st. If you would like a mini just email me and I’ll send one off to you. there is a lot of really nice stuff in this mini especially for us scrapbookers! yeah. To the card

the trees are out of the christmas classics set, (very versatile this set, it’s on page 32 $45.95) and I’ve stamped them in Handsome Hunter. We had a good play with this set and helen has worked out another way of using the tree which I’ll have a go at later down the track, but basically you glue two trees together (half only one on the left, one on the right) and fold and you have a 3d look, check out the sample on page 32 and you will see what I mean. I’ve just realised that this card is very similar to the sample on page 32 and I only just noticed that! Amazing what your subconciouse does. Tomorrow we will have a layout using some of the new mini things. tfl

some christmas in july cards
only one today, after the past week of not being able to show any cards, I’ve kept some up my sleeve so that I can put one up a day for awhile, Hi it’s good to be back, took longer than planned to get all set up but here we are, hope you have all been busy while I’ve been tearing my hair out, (there won’t be any photo’s of that!!) The card below is one I actually made two weeks ago, and Helen has of course had a hand in it, she has designed a great little square that is going to look good on any card and with any image in it.

this one has used the retired designer paper from last year and I’ve put the star from christmas classics inside, the chunky glitter around the edge, the card stock is certainly celery, the saying from many merry messages, the square is 10cm folded into quarters, and the folded back at 1cm, and back again, let me know if that’s confusing and I’ll put up a little tutorial. I have to also confess here that I nicked the star idea from Mum, thanks mum and Helen, don’t know where I’d be without you two. I’ll see tomorrow with a similar design but very different look.

the reason why we are short of pictures
I’m really sorry if you are here wanting to see lovely cards , my computer is still apart in three rooms, and it’s such a hassle to get everything connected , I thought I had an atc card uploaded but turns out not or else it’s got lost in the move between computers – this is really frustrating, and sorry to whinge, but I’m going to take a few days off from trying to keep this blogging up until I’m all fixed up and in one place again, hopefully my hubby will have it sorted by the end of the weekend. Keep crafting and I already am, so I’ll have heaps to show you once I’m back in one place! thanks for continuing to pop in.

my birthday cards
as I’m busy celebrating today I’ll show you all the lovely cards I have received, thank you very much to everyone who gave me such lovely cards, I love the Tilda card Judith made, and isn’t shirley’s card with all the circles great! My mum made the orange card and it is such a delightful colour, Helen granted my wish from awhile back and gave me the little blue bird, but I have to say the best card is actually not handmade! Shock and horror I know, but it means much more to me than a handmade card because my son’s actually went out and bought me a card without my knowledge AND they also bought me a present!! First time ever, ( I was so surprised) this has been one of the best birthdays yet, they did say they wanted to make me a card but didn’t know what materials to use , they got me the green card with the lovely flower. So I’m feeling very spoiled today.

I also got the most lovely braclet from Christine, so thankyou so much. Hope to be back tomorrow with some cards I made at the weekend. tks

Happy Birthday to Kristie

this is the card I worked on for AGES, Kristie likes bling, so I tried to get as much on as I could, I have layered the fifth ave rose (which I embossed on vellum and then coloured on the back with pencils) 6 times, put some glitter in the middle, layered heaps of times on elegant eggplant, and lavender lace and retired paper, using some silver hodge podge held with the cirlce brads for the birthday message, inside is some vellum with the flower stamped again and another verse, here is a close up of the flower

I hope you enjoy your birthday Kristie.

Elite Challenge 2
I’ve had this card in my head ever since I saw the set A wish for peace, it fitted the second elite challenge perfectly, the challenge was to use Not quite navy, kraft and vanilla, however as I needed ink in those colours and they don’t make kraft ink, I went with the alternative sahara sand and whisper white. A lot of work in this card,

it has everything, glitter, embossing etc, hope you like it, here are a couple of close up’s, and must go can smell my lunch burning, have a nice friday.

I’ve also used the soft holly wheel.

circle circus
taking off from last night, number 4

there is some chipboard on this one, covered in ink, and the sentiment is a retired rubon and the last one

so as you can see, cutting the a4 in different ways after randomly stamping it, will give you a lot of inspiration for different looking cards, I love this set but have used it mainly for embellishing scrap pages, I found it hard to come up with ideas for cards until I tried this. Hope you have found this inspiring, if you have any questions just send me an email or comment.
